I seem to have lost my blog entries

Apologies to anybody who has been depending on the stability and consistency of my blog.

Godaddy told me I had to migrate to a new hosting platform right away, and when I checked, my wordpress blog was down. I tried to migrate it and was unable to do so, due to errors.

In exasperation, I finally opened the latest backup of the blog in a text editor and discovered that about 80 percent of it consisted of spam comments that I thought Akismet had eliminated, but which had actually been carefully preserved as “metadata”. I may start the painful process of extracting the valid entries from the backup and placing them in this new blog, but I might just start all over again and give up the old entries as permanently lost.
